Located in North-Central Alberta's boreal forest, seven hamlets make up the MD of Opportunity region. Approximately 375 km north of Edmonton, this area is easily accessible by paved highways and include amenities such as restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores.
The communities of Calling Lake, Sandy Lake and Wabasca are located along HWY 813 via Athabasca.
Red Earth Creek is located on HWY88 166km north of Slave Lake.
To reach Peerless Lake and Trout Lake, travel east on Seconday HWY 686 (gravel) via Red Earth Creek.
Two Visitor Information Centres are available in the MD of Opportunity and offer local insight including free maps, brochures, event calendars, and additional information. The Visitor Info Centres also have local artwork on display such as beading, paintings, dream catchers, and mukluks. Complimentary tea and coffee is available.
Calling Lake Visitor Information Centre is located in the heart of Calling Lake at the corner of Calling Lake Drive and Central Drive.
